Who is Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese professional footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Born on February 5, 1985, in Madeira, Portugal, Ronaldo began his professional career with Sporting Lisbon before moving to Manchester United in 2003. During his time at Manchester United, Ronaldo won numerous trophies, including three English Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

In 2009, he transferred to Real Madrid for what was then a world-record transfer fee. At Real Madrid, Ronaldo continued to excel, winning four Champions League titles and becoming the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. In 2018, he transferred to Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles before returning to Manchester United in 2021.

Ronaldo is known for his exceptional athleticism, goal-scoring ability, and versatility on the field. He has won numerous individual awards, including five Ballon d’Or trophies, which are awarded annually to the world’s best player. Ronaldo has also achieved success with the Portuguese national team, winning the UEFA European Championship in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of 2024 in his first competitive match of the year for Al Nassr as they beat fellow Saudi Arabian side Al Feiha 1-0 in the AFC Champions League.

Following a six-week break from competitive action, Ronaldo’s side resumed duties for the 2023/24 season looking to sustain a challenge for honours both on the domestic and continental front.

Luis Castro’s side travelled to Al Majma’ah for the first leg of their Round of 16 tie on Wednesday with fairly high expectations given they eased through the group phase with minimal fuss. However, for all their possession — around 77 per cent of it — they found it difficult to create meaningful chances against a disciplined home defence.

Ronaldo, whose own preparations for this restart to the season had been hampered by injury, missed the clearest chance of the first half in stoppage time when he shot straight at goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic.

Al Nassr picked up the tempo in their play after the interval, but chances were still at a premium, with Talisca’s acrobatic attempt flying wide and Ronaldo heading straight at Stojkovic following a Marcelo Brozovic cross.

Those two had looked most likely to breach the Al Feiha rearguard, and so it proved with around 10 minutes of normal time left. Ronaldo laid the ball off to Brozovic and raced to meet his flicked return over the top of the defence, the Portugal star then stylishly finishing first time with the outside of his right foot.
